Scrap Metal Buyers in Florida

Once a car is stripped, the shell and anything else made of metal goes to a scrap buyer by weight. The businesses on this page state on their own websites that they take scrap metal beyond whole vehicles: steel, aluminum, copper, brass, appliances and catalytic converters. Some are salvage yards with a scale; others are secondary metals recyclers that also buy complete junk cars. Florida requires scrap recyclers to register with the Department of Revenue and to record every purchase, including the seller's identification and a thumbprint.

Two rules shape how you are paid. A recycler may not pay cash above $1,000 for any scrap, and may not pay cash in any amount for a catalytic converter, which is paid by check or electronic transfer and held ten business days after proof of ownership. Bring your ID and, for a converter, a receipt or bill of sale that shows it is yours. Prices per pound move with the market and are not recorded on this site; call the yard the day you plan to go.
